Freedom of Information Law [FOIL] Requests

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority (the “Authority”) is a public entity and, as such, complies with New York State’s Freedom of Information Law [FOIL].


Under the FOIL the public has a right to inspect and receive copies of most records retained by the Authority. Persons seeking records or wishing to inspect Authority records should contact the Authority at the address below:

The FOIL requires that agencies respond to a request for records in five (5) business days by either providing access to the records, denying access, or by stating when the Authority will make a determination on the request.  


The Authority may charge a fee for photocopying and/or reproduction of the requested material.


In the event a request is not handled in a timely manner or where a requestor disagrees with the determination to withhold certain records, the Authority established a FOIL Appeals Committee to address and carryout the appeals process.
