Envelopes with or without plastic windows are recyclable and can be placed with your curbside recyclables.

Envelopes with or without plastic windows are recyclable and can be placed with your curbside recyclables. Envelopes with plastic windows are filtered out while the paper is getting turned back into paper pulp. You don't need to tear the plastic windows out. Paper pulping machines sort it all out in the recycling process.

Tyvek plastic shipping envelopes from DuPont are commonly used by the United States Postal Service and Federal Express. Tyvek envelopes are 100% plastic and cannot be recycled in our program. However, the manufacturer maintains a nationwide recycling program. Small quantities of Tyvek envelopes may be mailed to DuPont in a used envelope. For greater quantities, DuPont will either send a free pouch with address label and mailing instructions or make arrangements with regional recyclers. For more information, call 1-866-338-9835 or visit the Tyvek recycling program website.
