    Building supplies and materials can be disposed of as solid waste at the Authority's Utica or Rome Transfer Stations for a fee.

    Building supplies and materials can be disposed of as solid waste at the Authority's Utica or Rome Transfer Stations for a fee.

    Building materials include counter tops, carpets, sinks, toilets, light fixtures, counter tops, hinges, handles, doors, windows and more.  Building supplies and materials are currently not recycled in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.  

    Restore Donate Shop Volunteer

    Building supplies, plumbing fixtures and hardware, lighting, and more can be donated to Oneida County Habitat for Humanity's ReStore if it is in reusable condition. The ReStore is a business that sells new and used building materials and home improvement items to the general public. 

    All donations are tax deductible, and proceeds generated from the ReStore benefits the mission of Oneida County Habitat for Humanity to build, renovate and revitalize simple safe, decent and affordable homes for low income, disabled and elderly families and homeowners. Habitat has been working in Oneida County since 1990 and since then has built 16 homes.

    Many residents generate used motor oil regularly in their homes, shops and garages. Motor oil can cause harm to us and our environment when discarded improperly. To dispose of motor oil and filters safely, material can be delivered to our EcoDrop on Leland Ave in Utica all year long, during normal business hours. Only 5 gallons of used motor oil is allowed to be delivered at one time. There is no charge for residents to drop off used motor oil. There are several locations and Oneida and Herkimer Counties that accept used motor oil for recycling.

    Household Hazardous Waste is accepted April-September only at the Authority's Household Hazardous Waste facility at 824 Sewage Plant Road in Utica.

    Household Hazardous Waste is accepted April-September only at the Authority's Household Hazardous Waste facility at 824 Sewage Plant Road in Utica. Certain small businesses may use the facility for a small fee. 

    Households are only allowed to drop off 15 wet gallons and/or 20 dry pounds per day.

    Our EcoDrop gives you the opportunity to dispose of many unused, unwanted, or outdated products. The following are acceptable materials:

    Residents may deliver paint to our EcoDrop on Leland Ave in Utica for recycling and proper disposal at no charge. This type of waste is only accepted from April - September.

    EMPTY PAINT CANS should be placed in your regular garbage with the lid removed.

    Households are only allowed to drop off 14 wet gallons and/or 20 dry pounds per trip.

    Some local businesses will accept paint products year round during their regular hours of operation. Click here for additional information on these drop-off sites and to learn more about the PaintCare program.

    Please consider donating old paint to Oneida County Habitat for Humanity's ReStore where the paint can be reused. For more information, please click here.

    If you are unable to deliver your paint to our facility or to another drop off location, please remove the lid, mix the paint with a substance such as cat litter or paint drying crystals and allow the paint to dry up. Then, place the paint can in your garbage without the lid.

    If your paint can contains a small amount of paint, please remove the lid, let the air dry up the paint and place in your trash without the lid.
