Holiday Waste Disposal

The most wonderful time of the year can also be an incredibly wasteful time. On average, Americans toss out 25% more trash during the holidays than at any other time of year.
Here are five ways to reduce holiday waste:
- Be mindful when shopping for gifts. If you are purchasing physical items, look for ones with the least packaging.
- Use recycled paper (newspaper, old wrapping paper, brown paper) for wrapping.
- Give the gift of an experience versus a physical item.
- Minimize food waste by planning your food portions and not cooking way beyond what's needed. Be sure to freeze or give away leftover food. Compost any additional waste you may have.
- Always be sure you are properly recycling or disposing of your holiday waste!
