Western Transfer Station Scale Replacement

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority’s (Authority) Western Transfer Station (WTS) in Rome will be replacing the existing Truck Scale beginning on October 23rd and will tentatively be certified and re-opened on November 10th. This project will require a temporary scale to be installed and a temporary traffic pattern put in place. All other operations will continue as normal. Below is an aerial view of the temporary traffic pattern and location of the temporary scale and EcoDrop. Customers will still be required to weigh in and out on the scale as well as back into the WTS Tipping Floor. Swipe card fobs will still be in use at the temporary scale. As an alternative, the Eastern Transfer Station in Utica will be operating as normal.

RED ARROWS = Temporary Traffic Pattern. Customers will still back into the Tip Floor and will need to rejoin the Temporary Traffic Pattern after discharging waste on Tip Floor

ORANGE AREA = Temporary Scale location. Customers will still need to weigh in and out when at the facility and prior to exiting.

GREEN AREA = EcoDrop. This area will be moved to accommodate the Temporary Traffic Pattern.

With the change in traffic and adjustment of the EcoDrop, it will be necessary for all drivers and pedestrians to be aware of incoming and exiting traffic. The Authority employees will provide traffic control, but all customers are required to abide by all Facility Rules and Regulations.
