The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority is notifying residents of the City of Utica of ongoing delays in curbside waste collection. Over the last several weeks, collection schedules have been disrupted due to staffing shortages with the current contracted waste hauler, which has struggled to hire new employees to meet service demands.
The Authority is working closely with Controlled Waste Systems Inc. (CWSI) to mitigate service interruptions and restore regular collection as quickly as possible. Residents may experience delays beyond their normally scheduled collection day while adjustments are made.
“We appreciate the patience and understanding of Utica residents as we work through these staffing challenges,” the Authority said. “Our teams are making every effort to stabilize service and reduce the impact on households.” As a reminder to residents Tires and scrap metal are picked up after waste and recycling is collected.
Residents with questions, concerns, or specific collection issues are encouraged to contact the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority's Utica Solid Waste Coordinator directly at 315-731-0238 or ohswa@ohswa.org. More information can also be found on the Authority's website at www.ohswa.org.
The Authority will provide updates as conditions change and improvements are implemented.
