Backyard Composter and Rain Barrel Sale

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority (Authority) is celebrating Earth Day early by partnering with EnviroWorld for a Compost Bin and Rain Barrel Pre-Order Sale. Rain barrels, compost bins and compost bin accessories are now available and orders will be accepted until April 6, 2022. Pickup appointments can be scheduled after April 22, 2022 and can be scheduled by email or phone.

About Composting

According to the Environmental Protection Agency, 25% of the United States’ waste stream is made up of items that can be composted. By using a composter, you can turn items like vegetable scraps, yard waste and newspaper into a nutrient packed soil amendment for your garden. Composting reduces greenhouse gas emissions, reduces waste disposal costs and saves landfill space. Composting is nature’s way of recycling!

About Rain Barrels

Rain barrels can help you cut down on your water expenses, conserve your local water supply, and reduce erosion in your neighborhood. A 1,000 square foot roof can produce 600 gallons of storm water runoff for every inch of rain. Instead of this water going straight into the ground, it can be captured and used to water gardens, lawns and plants, wash cars, and can even be used as drinking water, if treated properly.
