Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator Program (CESQG)
The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority has developed a Conditionally Exempt Small Quantity Generator (CESQG) Waste Acceptance Program. The Oneida-Herkimer Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility is permitted to accept hazardous waste from conditionally exempt small quantity generators (CESQG’s) School and Institutions located in Oneida or Herkimer County. This means that CESQG’s can bring their school chemicals and universal wastes directly to the facility for proper environmental disposal and recycling at a lower cost than if they were to have an outside firm come to their location and package and transport the wastes. We are able to provide these kinds of services as part of the integrated regional public system.
Please remember in order to send hazardous waste to the facility you must be conditionally exempt. To make sure you meet the CESQG generator status, please read the NYSDEC publication "ENVIRONMENTAL COMPLIANCE AND POLLUTION PREVENTION GUIDE FOR SMALL QUANTITY GENERATORS", dated March 1998. If you have any further questions, please call the NYSDEC Regional office at (315) 793-2554. Once you have determined that you are eligible to participate in the CESQG program, please fill out the attached Small Quantity Generator Certification including a list of wastes to be brought to the program including waste type, quantity, and container type. Please read all this material carefully and fill out the certification as accurately as possible.
You must provide certification to the Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority at the address above before you will be allowed to bring the waste to the Oneida-Herkimer Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
We will call you with a total anticipated price and schedule a day for you to come to the Oneida-Herkimer Household Hazardous Waste Facility. Please remember that the cost may vary if wastes need to be categorized differently for disposal purposes.
Regardless of hazardous waste generator status, universal waste generators may set up an appointment to deliver universal wastes such as spent mercury fluorescent bulbs and computer monitors to the facility.
Universal waste generators must also forward an inventory of waste to be brought to the facility. As with CESQG's, you will be called with a price and appointment times you can reserve.
