Illegal Dumping
and Burning

It is illegal to dump or burn household garbage, construction and demolition debris, tires, appliances, recyclables, or other solid waste on private or public property in any municipality in Oneida and Herkimer Counties. Burn barrels and open burning of solid waste is not permitted in Oneida and Herkimer Counties.

Green Waste Drop-Off

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority allows residents to drop off yard and green waste at the Residential Convenience Stations in Utica and Rome during normal business hours. All yard and green waste must be delivered loose and not in plastic or paper bags. Residents may also purchase finished compost at both convenience stations.
