TECT Power - Utica Honored as 2011 Recycling Champion

The Oneida-Herkimer Solid Waste Authority annually recognizes individuals, institutions or industries that have taken the initiative to reduce their solid waste stream through recycling and proper disposal. This year the Authority is honoring TECT Power – Utica as 2011 Recycling Champion.
TECT Power manufactures a variety of engine-ready critical components for the aerospace, aviation and industrial turbine industry, specializing in forging, precision machining and grinding.
“TECT Power – Utica has developed an environmental management system that has set goals, increased recycling and achieved waste and resource reductions; energy usage by 20%, facility water usage by 70%, industrial waste by 50% and hazardous waste by 48%,” said Authority Director of Recycling David Lupinski.
TECT Power has also been recognized by the New York State Pollution Prevention Institute for having improved production processes to enhance recycling and reuse and reduced the use of hazardous materials.
“TECT Power – Utica truly exemplifies the term “Recycling Champion” for establishing a superior recycling and reduction program in the workplace, and demonstrating extraordinary commitment to the Oneida-Herkimer integrated solid waste management program,” said Authority Board Chairman Donald Gross.
TECT Power – Utica will be presented with the 2011 Recycling Champion Award at today’s [November 21, 2011] Authority Board meeting scheduled for 4:30 p.m., 1600 Genesee Street, Utica.
